Governance
Reset is a non-profit, philanthropic organisation that both provides grants and contracts, and works programmatically alongside partners with shared policy, technology and advocacy goals.
Luminate and The Sandler Foundation are our founding funders.
Luminate is a global foundation working to ensure that everyone – especially those who are underrepresented - has the information, rights, and power to influence the decisions that shape society. The foundation is focused on enabling people to fully participate in civic and political life, to safely challenge power, and to access accurate, trustworthy information. It was established by philanthropists Pierre and Pam Omidyar.
The Sandler Foundation invests in strategic organisations and exceptional leaders that seek to improve the rights, opportunities and well-being of others, especially the most vulnerable and disadvantaged.
Ben Scott is the Executive Director of Reset, and is responsible for strategic direction, overseeing the coordination of policy, technology and civic engagement work, and providing expert counsel on policy development and advocacy. Ben Scott was previously Luminate’s Director of Policy and Advocacy and continues to be policy and advocacy advisor at Luminate.
Our programmatic work is overseen by a Steering Committee with equal representation from The Sandler Foundation and Luminate.
We have appointed an Advisory Council made up of independent experts in the technology, online harms, surveillance capitalism and digital rights spaces, and that represent a range of backgrounds and geographies. The role of the Advisory Council is to guide and inform our work, advance our thinking and support our partners.
Reset is committed to Luminate’s Diversity, Anti-Harassment, Whistleblowing and Conflict of Interest policies. See also the Reset Data & Privacy Policy.
